Our Mission
The Powerlifting Club at ETSU will provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff with similar interests to participate in a rapidly growing strength sport. This club will aid in bridging the gap between intramural and intercollegiate athletics by providing competition, expert scientists who are also coaches, and opportunities to practice and master the big three lifts: back squat, bench press, and deadlift. We encourage our members to be highly competitive whether that's academically, in the training hall, or on the platform.
By being part of The Powerlifting Club at ETSU, you will be part of a community of like-minded people pushing you to be the best lifter you can be. You can always be confident that you will have someone around you ready to support you! We plan to host 1 to 2 semesterly meets within the club sanctioned through USA Powerlifting (USAPL) and travel together to compete in local, regional, or national powerlifting meets.
We are highly qualified and capable to help improve your strength potential through our coaching staff's knowledge and experience. Between the President, Vice President, and Faculty Advisor, these individuals have extensive experience competing in USAPL powerlifting meets as well as other strength sports. These individuals have also coached and programmed for lifters from the club level all the way up to the national and International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) World Championship level. All three individuals also have extensive research backgrounds pertaining to strength-power athletes/sports and can provide you with programming options that not only meet your individual needs but are backed by empirical evidence.
We can teach you the ins-and-outs of back squatting, bench pressing, and deadlifting whether you are a veteran powerlifting competitor, interested in returning to the sport or just starting out. Do you train like a powerlifter but you're unsure about competing or how competitive you just might be? Give us a shot. We thank you from the bottom of our squats!
